In May 2006 Lonrho African holdings became the major shareholder of the Luba Freeport project holding 63% of the shares. Lonrho invests in over 17 countries across Africa in 3 core business sectors: Food Supply Chain Management, Market Expansion Services and Infrastructure.

GEPetrol is the national oil company of Equatorial Guinea.In 2002 GEPetrol became a shareholder in the project converting its profit option into 37% shareholding. GEPetrol has the possibility to secure an additional 12% of the shares of the Luba Freeport project.
