In May 2006, Lonrho Africa Holding (UK) became the majority shareholder of Luba Freeport, holding 63% of the shares. In 2022, Lonrho Africa Holding (UK) was wholly acquired by GulfLog Africa, a Mauritius-based investment fund. Besides Equatorial Guinea, GulfLog Africa is also invested in companies operating in Mauritius, Mozambique, Malawi, Azerbaijan, and Switzerland.

GEPetrol is the national oil company of Equatorial Guinea. In 2002 GEPetrol became a shareholder in Luba Freeport with a shareholding of 37%.
